b.supreme was founded by women, for women in 2006 as a direct response to both the under-representation and misrepresentation of women within the hip hop dance scene. On 22nd September 2006, b.supreme premiered at London’s Southbank Centre with an all-female line up to sell out audiences and international acclaim. Merging professional performances, panel discussions, youth performances, open jams and workshops the festival was unlike anything else.
It continued at the Southbank biannually until 2011 bringing over 479 international artists and platforming 3009 UK artists. During this time b.supreme presented work on tours and productions, curated dance events for brands and music/dance festivals alongside the annual festival. In 2013 b.supreme undertook a UK tour – 10 theatres, 37 performances and 1103 performers.
b.supreme continues to focus on the production of inspirational outreach projects for young women, creating opportunities in the arts and supporting emerging and established female talent.
