Following our successful b. supreme tour, which visited Margate in 2014, we returned again in September 2016 to deliver b. by the Sea. Commissioned by Margate Festival and Arts Council England. b. by the Sea kickstarted the 10 year Anniversary Year of b. supreme Festival for Women in Hip Hop. The mini residency in Margate, included 3 workshops in 3 local Schools; Ursuline, Hartsdown & St Anthony’s taught by 3 of the most talented Hip Hop artists in the UK. Following the workshops, we brought together, two professional female crews and local dancers (some of whom came from the schools’ project) to battle for the Margate crown. In 2017, we presented an exciting collaboration with Thanet Power of Women (POW) festival in March 2017.

The b. supreme festival celebrating women in Hip Hop bring an afternoon show with young dancers from Hartsdown Academy, St George’s C of E Foundation school and Ursuline College following their 8 week in-school hip hop dance education with b.supreme.
The evening brings awe-inspiring ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ dance battles where the best female breakers in the UK and their male partners who will battle other pairs for supremacy in the cypher with the hottest DJs on the decks and world class judges.

Myself Dance UK is a power packed all-female Hip Hop dance company challenging the male-dominated, gender stereotyped Hip Hop scene. This super strong crew of 15 female dancers draw their experience from their recent performances in New York’s ‘Ladies of Hip Hop’, Sky One’s Got to Dance, Breakin’ Convention and b. supreme.
This will be an evening of cutting edge Hip Hop choreography and female empowerment as MYSELF DANCE UK share the stage with b.by the sea students from local Thanet schools, in the POW Choreography Championships 2017

Each of the 3 schools, – Ursuline College, St George’s C of E Foundation School and Hartsdown Academy – have been working on their pieces with b.supreme dancers in the 8 week run up to this evening and will Battle against each other for the Thanet Hip Hop Choreography Champion crown!

The POW! Thanet Dare2Dance Groups will perform their 2017 winning piece, Myself Dance Company will perform a showcase and followed by ‘battle by the sea’ which is open to local dancers. DJ DBO and MC Sun Sun, will open the floor to dancers 6yrs+ who want to show the world what they can do.
